NEWS RELEASE
FARMINGTON, N.Y. – The fourth renewal of the $50,000 Juvenile Fillies is scheduled to be run as the eighth race of Saturday’s nine race card. A field of nine will do battle in the six furlong sprint for 2-year-old fillies.
Three Sisters Stable’s Sumwhrovertherainbw is listed as the 9-5 early program choice for the feature race. She is the only multiple winner in the field with victories at Mountaineer Park on June 16 and at Presque Isle Downs on September 5. In her most recent start, she finished seventh in the $100,000 Kentucky Cup Juvenile Fillies at Turfway Park. The Florida-bred trained by David Markgraf will be ridden by Joseph Badamo on Saturday.
Jovanna appears to be the main threat to Sumwhrovertherainbow after a twelve length maiden victory at Saratoga on September 3. She cruised to the six furlong win in a time of 1:10.83 for owners Joseph and John Marino. The New York-bred filly trained by Richard Dutrow, Jr. has had two bullet workouts since the effort. John Grabowski will be in the irons of the 2-1 morning line second choice.
Play N Hooky returns to Finger Lakes where she made her only start on July 21. She won that maiden race by ten and one-half lengths in a five furlong time of :59.80. The bay New York-bred has since been bought from Mark Ferraro for $105,000 by new owners Sam and Max Kupferberg. Robert Messina will be in the saddle of the John Pariisella-trainee.
First race post time for Saturday is set at 1:10 p.m. Gaming doors open at 10:00 a.m. and racing gates open at 11:30 a.m.
