FARMINGTON, N.Y. – Sanford Bacon’s Say Toba Sandy ran down Jovanna in late stretch to take the fourth renewal of the $50,000 Finger Lakes Juvenile Fillies on Saturday. The 59-1 outsider scored the upset in the six furlong sprint for 2-year-old fillies in a final time of 1:12.64.

It was the first ever stakes win in the career of jockey David Osorio who picked up the mount when John Grabowski opted to ride Jovana. "I knew I had a chance", said Osorio. "I’m very happy."

Say Toba Sandy was rated off the early pace by Osorio, taking advantage of a speed duel up front. She then rallied to catch the softened up favorite by three-quarters of a length at the wire.

The M. Anthony Ferraro-trainee entered the stake after winning a maiden race in her only other start. "We knew she could run", said Ferraro. "I thought she was the second best horse and could be helped by the setup of the race."

The bay New York-bred became the first stakes winner sired by $2,070,407 earner Say Florida Sandy. After two career starts, the undefeated filly has a total of $63,600 in purse earnings. She had the second largest post time odds and paid $121.00, $16.40 and $9.90. $375,000 was bet in the show pool on 1-5 favorite Jovanna who finished second to return $2.10 and $2.10. Wise Choice was third and paid $7.70.

The final stake of the 2007 season at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack is scheduled for Saturday, November 3. The $50,000 Finger Lakes Juvenile, a 6-furlong sprint for 2-year-olds, will be the feature race that day.
