A look back and ahead…
Sweet Lorena tied Sly Diamond Jim for the most wins in the 2007 Finger Lakes season after taking Thursday’s seventh race by three lengths. The New York-bred filly trained by Michael S. Ferraro resisted a late challenge by Wandi to earn her sixth victory of the season under jockey Robert Messina. Sweet Lorena has been nominated for Top 3-Year-Old Filly of the 2007 meet; other nominees in the category include: Metroexpress, New York Kitty, Old Hussy and Past Post. In addition, she is a candidate for Horse of the Year. The Finger Lakes Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association’s Annual Awards Ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 10.
Tin Cup Chalice annihilated a 2-year-old maiden field by 15 and one-quarter lengths on Tuesday. The Michael Lecesse-trainee won the sixth race in a six furlong time of 1:10.95 under jockey Omar Camejo. He is expected to make his next start in the $50,000 Finger Lakes Juvenile on November 3.
Longshot of the Week: Rockin Sarah shook loose on the front end under Joel Sone to win Thursday’s eighth race by two and one-half lengths for trainer Jose Cabrera. The 22-1 outsider notched her fourth victory of the season in a six furlong time of 1:12.25.

Jockey John Grabowski rode four winners on Saturday’s card, including three for trainer M. Anthony Ferraro. Pedro Rodriguez and Omar Camejo both had triples this week. Rodriguez recorded his on Monday; Camejo on Tuesday.
