FARMINGTON, N.Y. – Aaron Racing Stables’ Hoosick Falls is the co-highweight for the 13th renewal of the $50,000 Jack Betta Be Rite Handicap which is scheduled to be run on Saturday at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack. The 5-year-old mare is entered in a race at a distance of over a mile for the first time since February.
The Jeremiah Englehart-trainee has won two sprint races at Finger Lakes this season including the $50,000 Susan B. Anthony Handicap on June 17. She has been successful in the past running longer distances; a total of seven career victories in route races. The $200,923 earner is listed at 3-1 for the stakes race for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and up. Paul Nicol, Jr. will be aboard the likely pacesetter on Saturday.
Fly to Me, the 5-2 early program choice for the one mile and one-sixteenth event, will also carry top weight of 122 pounds. The 4-year-old filly owned by Langpap Stables, was most successfuls in 2005, the year she won the $50,000 Finger Lakes Juvenile. She made over half of her $214,989 career earnings as a 2-year-old in only six starts. John Davila, Jr. will be in the saddle for trainer Michael Lecesse.
Rounding out the eight horse field will be Watral’s Dahlia, Lady Elaine, Behrly Mine, Prom Dance, Docstar, and Raf’s Sociely Girl.
The $50,000 Jack Betta Be Rite Handicap is scheduled as the eighth of Saturday’s nine race card. A $2,500 Handicapping Challenge will also take place that day. Participants in the competition select the winners of nine Finger Lakes races and can earn cash prizes. The Top 25 scores of the contest (free to enter) earn a spot in the finals on October 13th. First race post time is set at 1:10 p.m. Gaming doors open at 10:00 a.m. and racing gates open at 11:30 a.m.
