FARMINGTON, N.Y. – Talking Treasure was unchallenged by any of her rivals in the $75,000 New York Oaks at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack on Sunday. She cruised to a eleven and one-quarter length victory in the one mile and one-sixteenth route for New York-bred 3-year-old fillies and mares.

It was the third stakes win in the career of the $282,108 earner who is owned by Kenneth and Sarah Ramsey. She assumed command of the race in the early stages before opening up her lead with little urging from jockey Robert Messina. The Charlton Baker-trainee finished the 22nd renewal of the event in a time of 1:44.09. "I thought she would run good", said Baker. "I didn’t think she’d win that easy."

The win was the second in a row for Talking Treasure after finishing second sprinting six furlongs as the 2-5 favorite in the $50,000 Niagara Stakes on July 14 at Finger Lakes. "She doesn’t want to go six furlongs", said Baker. "Seven furlongs or further is a better distance for her."

The victory was the fifth in nine career starts of the post time favorite who paid $3.70, $2.20, and $2.10. My Kitty finished second and returned $3.30 and $2.40. Laurentide Ice was third and paid $2.50.

Two stakes races for New York-bred 2-year-old are scheduled to be run on Monday, September 3. The $137,825 Lady Finger Stakes and the $138,225 Aspirant Stakes are slated for Labor Day. The first 2,000 guests (18 and over) through the doors receive a free head set radio. There will be live music and entertainment as well as a chicken barbeque under the pavilion for $8.85. First race post time is set at 1:10 p.m. Gaming doors open at 10:00 a.m. and racing gates open at 11:30 a.m.
