IN THE COMMUNITY
We at Finger Lakes Casino & Racetrack work and live in the community where we serve,
so it is only right that we do our share. Below are just some of the ways we help:
The Charity Cup Event is one of the many ways Finger Lakes Casino & Racetrack gives back to the local community.
Finger Lakes provides a $30,000 community donation to be split among six local charities. Selection of the participating organizations is based upon several factors including, but not limited to an assessment of overall need, services provided, and the potential impact within the community of the specific initiative to be support by funds awarded from the event.
The day of the event includes each charity participating in an interactive event surrounding a day of thoroughbred racing. The charity that earns the most points will take home the Cup and the top award of $10,000. Each charity comes away a winner and awarded the following prizes from $6,000 - $2,000, depending on the outcome of the event.
United Way Day of Caring
Finger Lakes Casino & Racetrack employees volunteer every year for the Ontario County United Way Day of Caring.
The Day of Caring kicks off the United Way Campaign. Year after year, over thirty agencies in Ontario County have over 450 volunteers from businesses and organizations in our area reaching out and helping the United Way Agencies.
Each agency has many different tasks for the volunteers to help them out with including: painting, shampooing rugs, washing windows, yard work, etc. Not only is the Day of Caring a great help for the United Way, it’s also a fun employee team building day.
During the United Way Campaign, Finger Lakes Casino & Racetrack also hosts a food drive to help the local food cupboards in Ontario County. Employees generously donate non-perishable food & items to help out those in need.
Points for Kids
Each year Finger Lakes Casino & Racetrack’s Guests and Employees find their holiday spirit in a big way.
Casino patrons of our Player Extras Club donate their casino card points for the annual Points for Kids promotion that started back in 2004.
Along with Finger Lakes Association purchasing gifts, employees donate gifts and make the true spirit of the holiday season shine. The Employees double as elves and shop to make sure every child who is in foster care in Ontario County have a wonderful holiday season. A truck load of gifts ranging from toys, games, bikes and clothes are delivered to OCSS to be wrapped and given to the kids they serve. Each year on average, there are between 55 & 65 kids who benefit from the Points for Kids Promotion.
Four times a year, Finger Lakes Casino & Racetrack employees clean up a portion of the highway near the facility.
The cleanup is a two mile stretch of the highway right in front of the property. Finger Lakes adopted the highway in 2009, and have been keeping it clean for three years!
