Wagering on Thoroughbred Horse Racing is easy to get started with,
but can become complex as you get past the basics...

Here are some types of wagers:
Win
Your horse must finish first.Place
Your horse must finish first or second.Show
Your horse must finish first, second or third.Exacta
You wager on two horses. They must come in first and second in the precise order you predict.Exacta Box
You wage on two horses. They must come in first and second in any order.Trifecta
You wager on three horses. They must come in first, second, and third in the precise order you predict.Trifecta Key
You wager on three horses. You pick one horse to win (the "key"), followed by the other two horses you pick, which must come in second or third in any order. You can wager on more than two horses in second and third - any two of those horses can finish in second or third for you to win.Trifecta Box
You wager on three horses. They must finish first, second, and third in any order.Superfecta
You wager on four horses. They must come in first, second, third, and fourth in the precise order you predict.Superfecta Box
You wager on four horses. They must finish first, second, third, and fourth in any order.Superfecta Key
You wager on four horses. You chose one horse to win (the "key horse"), who must win, followed by the other three horses second, third, and fourth in any order. You can wager on more than three horses in second, third, and fourth - any three of those horses can finish in second, third, or fourth for you to win.
