A look back and ahead…
Monterey Bay rallied to win the Lady’s First Handicap by three-quarters of a length on Saturday under jockey John Grabowski. The 5-year-old mare continued her success around the Finger Lakes oval notching the fourth win in her fifth start at "The Thumb". It was the second consecutive horse saddled by trainer James Pettine to visit the winner’s circle on Saturday. With four wins, Pettine is tied with Chris Englehart and Jeremiah Englehart atop the Finger Lakes trainer standings after the first two weeks of the season.
Play N Hooky became the first two-time winner of the 2008 meet after a nine and one-half length romp in the first race on Tuesday under jockey David Osorio. The 3-year-old filly completed the four and one-half furlong distance in a final time of :52.99 for trainer John Parisella.
Longshot of the Week: Wave Land Squire made his first Finger Lakes start a winning one on Saturday. The chestnut gelding had lost by a total of 27 and one-quarter lengths in his last two starts at Penn National before taking the seventh race by three lengths. Jockey David Osorio was aboard the 16-1 outsider for trainer James Pettine.

Saturday, May 3 / Kentucky Derby Day:
The first 1,000 guests (over 18) through the racing gates receive a ticket for a free commemorative Kentucky Derby glass. Tickets can be redeemed at the Player Extras Club after the first live race. There will be live entertainment by John Seiger’s Dixieland All-stars from 1p.m. to 3 p.m. Fans who wear Derby Hats have a chance to win a share of $500 in a Derby Hat Contest. Kentucky Derby Merchandise can be won in specially marked programs.
