A look back and ahead…

Hailey Keen earned a two and three-quarter length win in Saturday’s eighth race under jockey Ruben Rojas. The 6-year-old mare was the first horse saddled by trainer Patrick McCarthy to visit the winner’s circle. McCarthy took over the stable of Arthur "Pete" Heberle who passed away during the offseason. In 26 years of training thoroughbreds Heberle had a cumulative total of 292 victories. Horses he saddled amassed a sum of $2,182,090 in purse earnings.

Citrine took the eighth race on Tuesday by four and three-quarter lengths in a five furlong time of :58.57 under jockey John Davila, Jr. It ended a winless draught for the Chris Englehart-trainee whose last victory was accomplished on October 14, 2006.
