A look back and ahead…

Tin Cup Chalice made a successful return to the oval on Sunday for trainer Michael Lecesse. The undefeated gelding rallied to win the first race by four and one-quarter lengths. Pedro Rodriguez was the winning jockey aboard the 3-year-old New York-bred, who took the $50,000 Finger Lakes Juvenile in his previous start on November 3, 2007.

Monterey Bay took advantage of a slow pace and drew away to a four length victory in the Mother’s Day Handicap on Sunday. The James Pettine-trainee completed the five and one-half furlong sprint in a final time of 1:05.50 under jockey John Grabowski. The win aboard the 5-year-old mare was the third of the day for Grabowski.

Barco became the first three-time winner of the 2008 season on Friday. The David Markgraf-trainee was directed to a three-quarters of a length victory in the third race by jockey Omar Camejo. The win was the first of three consecutive on the card for Camejo.

Longshot of the Week: Waited Long Enough was entered for a lower tag by trainer Ramon Vazquez on Monday after being defeated by an average of 16 lengths in her previous six starts. The 5-year-old mare responded to the drop in class and scored a victory by three-quarters of a length in the ninth race. The 37-1 outsider was guided to the upset win by Ezequiel Perez.
