FARMINGTON, N.Y. –The first stakes race of the season for fillies and mares, the $50,000 Susan B. Anthony Handicap, will take place on Sunday at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack.

Aaron Racing Stables’ Hoosick Falls is the 128-pound highweight for the 29th renewal of the six furlong sprint restricted to New York-bred three years old and up. The 6-year-old mare scored a victory in last year’s running of the Susan B. Anthony while carrying 117 pounds. The two and one quarter length win gave trainer Jeremiah Englehart his first career stakes victory. The 9-5 morning line favorite won the Memorial Day Handicap by four and one-quarter lengths in her most recent start on May 26. Jockey Paul Nicol Jr., who guided the $267,448 earner to two stakes victories in 2007, will be back aboard on Sunday.

Fly to Me defeated Hoosick Falls in two consecutive route races in 2007, but has finished second to her adversary in their last two meetings going six furlongs. The 5-year-old mare owned by Langpap Stables received the award best Finger Lakes older female horse last year after winning four of nine starts including the $50,000 Jack Betta B. Rite Handicap on August 25. The Michael Lecesse-trainee will carry seven pounds less than Hoosick Falls after finishing second to her rival on Memorial Day. Leading jockey John Davila, Jr. will be in the irons of the $279,561 earner who has only one victory in six career starts at the six furlong distance.

Kenneth and Sarah Ramsey’s Talking Treasure will make her first start since an off the board finish in the $75,000 Floral Park Handicap at Belmont Park on September 27, 2007. The 4-year-old filly cruised to an eleven and one-quarter length victory in the $75,000 New York Oaks restricted to 3-year-old New York-bred fillies in her last trip around the Finger Lakes oval. Jockey Dennis Carr will be aboard the Charlton Baker-trainee for the first time on Father’s Day.

Beginning at 10 a.m. on Sunday, the first 1,000 gentlemen members who check into the Player Extras Club receive a free personal wet/dry travel shaver. There will be a special Father’s Day buffet for guests with reservations in the Terrace Dining Room. Post time for the first race is set at 1:10 p.m.
