A look back and ahead…

Jockey Jeremias Flores had a successful Father’s Day with victories aboard three horses on the card including Wishing Wishes in the $50,000 Susan B. Anthony Handicap. Flores recorded his second career stakes win in the Sunday feature, and first in almost ten years. After winning two more races on Monday, Flores moved into fourth place in the Finger Lakes jockey standings with 27 victories on the season.

Docstar was unchallenged on the lead and coasted to a three and three-quarter length victory in the eighth race on Friday for trainer Charlton Baker. She finished the one mile and seventy yard route in a time of 1:44.84 under the direction of jockey Dennis Carr. The 6-year-old mare made ammends for a fifth place finish in her previous race when she stumbled at the start.

Longshot of the Week: J’s Luckylady rallied to win at odds of 29-1 under jockey Pedro Rodriguez on Monday. After running in shorter races in her first three starts of the season the 6-year-old mare had an improved performance at the six furlong distance of the second race. All four of the Debra Breed-trainee’s career victories have come at that distance.

News and Notes

Jockey/Trainer News: Elaine Castillo guided her first mount to victory after being out for three racing days due to a spill that occurred during the running of the ninth race on Saturday, June 7. Castillo won the first race on Friday with Immersed in Gold. Angel Stanley is a new face in the Finger Lakes jockey colony. Stanley had been riding in Florida before arriving at the Western New York track this week.
