A look back and ahead…

Guts Game, a 4-year-old filly partially owned by N.F.L quarterback Tom Brady won a race at Finger Lakes on Friday, June 27. Little Red Feather Racing, a partnership who owns the $165,000 2-year-old purchase, also has NBA star LeBron James and rapper Jay-Z, among its investors. Guts Game is currently in the stable of trainer John Tebbutt and is expected to make another start at "The Thumb" in the near future.

Tin Cup Chalice will continue his quest to become the first New York-bred 3-year-old to sweep all three legs of the Big Apple Triple. The undefeated gelding faces five other rivals in the $150,000 New York Derby on Saturday at Finger Lakes. The five time winner trained by Michael Lecesse will be ridden by jockey Pedro Rodriguez who guided him to a one and one half length win in the $100,000 Mike Lee at Belmont Park on June 22. No horse has succesfully won all three races in the Big Apple series since it was introduced in 1999.

Longshot of the Week: Despite finishing off the board in her previous start against lower claimers, Dalovaly Linda made a successful step up in class in an allowance race on Friday. The 7-year-old mare rallied up the rail to win the third race by a nose under jockey Rafael Rohena, Jr. The Felix Monserrate-trainee scored the upset victory at odds of 32-1.
