FARMINGTON, N.Y. – Blue Star Stable’s Vintage Tough drew away from her rivals to win the fifth running of the $50,000 Finger Lakes Juvenile Fillies on Saturday at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack. The even-money public choice completed the six furlong sprint for 2-year-old fillies in a time of 1:12.55.

The bay New York-bred stalked the early pace before challenging pacesetter Indian Rush at the half mile pole. She then overtook that foe and cruised to a two and one-half length victory under jockey John Davila, Jr.

It was the second consecutive win for the Michael S. Ferraro-trainee who broke her maiden in her previous start over a sloppy racing surface at Belmont Park on September 28.

She was the post time favorite for the event and paid $4.00, $2.40 and $2.10. Indian Rush held second and returned $6.30 and $5.20. Haley’s Lollipop rallied to be third to pay $2.40.

The final stake of the 2008 season at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack is scheduled for Saturday, November 1. The $50,000 Finger Lakes Juvenile, a 6-furlong sprint for 2-year-olds, will be the feature race that day.
