Triumphal
recorded the quickest six furlong time of the meet on Friday. The 5-year-old gelding trained by Michael LeCesse completed the seventh race in 1:10.62 under jockey John Grabowski. His time was seven-tenths of a second faster than the 1:11.33 that was run for the three-quarters of a mile distance in the $50,000 George W. Barker Handicap on May 25 by Mr. Windjammer.Crafty Mark had a successful return to Finger Lakes scoring a two and one-quarter length victory in Tuesday’s feature race for trainer Chris Englehart. The 4-time winner passed the class test by defeating a field that included 2007 "Horse of the Year" Tiger Speech and $209,140 earner Brocco Valley. John Davila, Jr. directed the 5-year-old Kentucky-bred to the eighth race victory in a time of 1:43.03 for the one mile and seventy yard distance.
Longshot of the Week: Zeal Power made amends for an off the board finish on a sloppy surface in his prior Finger Lakes start with a four and one-quarter length victory on Monday at odds of 31-1. The 11-year-old gelding visited the winner’s circle for the 16th time after making his 107th career start in the fifth race. The Hector Guerra-trainee was guided to the upset win by jockey Daniel Morales.
