FARMINGTON, N.Y. – All top three finishers of the 30th renewal of the $50,000 Susan B. Anthony Handicap at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack on Sunday were from the barn of trainer Michael S. Ferraro. Bob’s Dylan scored a three length victory over stablemates Afleet Alexandra and Sweet Lorena in the annual stake for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and up.
The 4-year-old filly set the early fractions while unchallenged on the front end and completed the six furlong sprint in the season’s fastest time of 1:10.34. The $145,313 earner scored her fifth consecutive victory around the Finger Lakes oval.
"She’s a much better filly this year", said Ferraro. "She’s got a few more good races left in her."
Sunday’s eighth race was not the first time horses from the stable of the 18-time leading trainer took all top three positions in a stake. He also accomplished a sweep of the $20,000 General Sullivan Stakes at Finger Lakes on July 4, 1981 with Fio Rito, Sea Bourne and D. J’s Nitecap.
Jockey John Davila, Jr. earned his third consecutive victory on Sunday’s card aboard Bob’s Dylan who paid $10.00, $8.20 and $3.40. Afleet Alexandra ran second and paid the same as the winner. Sweet Lorena finished third and returned $2.10.
The next stakes race at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack will take place on Independence Day.The $50,000 Wadsworth Memorial Handicap, a one mile and one-eighth route for 3-year-olds and up, is scheduled to be run as part of Family Fun Day at Finger Lakes on Saturday, July 4.
