Spa Princess recorded the fastest time of the meet for the distance of six furlongs in the sixth race on Monday. The Chris Englehart-trainee cruised to a three and one-quarter length victory under jockey John Davila, Jr. in a final time of 1:10.25. The previous quickest mark was 1:10.34 which was achieved by Bob’s Dylan in the $50,000 Susan B. Anthony Handicap on June 14.

Jose Baez is the 3-1 morning line favorite for the Finger Lakes Jockey Footrace which will take place after the fifth race on Saturday, July 4. A full field of 14 riders is entered for the annual race which will be run from the gate at a distance of 70 yards. The Don MacBeth Memorial Jockey Fund, which assists injured and disabled riders, will receive $200 for each participant in the event from Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack. There will also be a jockey autograph session as part of the Independence Day festivities.

Longshot of the Week: Little Sneak rallied to take the first race on Sunday by three quarters of a length for trainer Luis Gutierrez. Javier Arias guided the 33-1 outsider to victory while making his first appearance in a Finger Lakes race this season.

Jockey/Trainer News: Apprentice jockey Tadious Simpson earned his first career win in Tuesday’s second race. Wise Guy Kelly finished second under Simpson but was placed first by the Finger Lakes stewards after being impeded in the stretch by Gnarley Farley. Andrea Odenbach recorded her first training win in 19 years on Sunday. Notorious Ness won the sixth race for Odenbach who returned to the paddock this season after not saddling a horse since 1990.
