Hall of Fame jockey Pat Day will visit Finger Lakes on August 15 and 16 to celebrate 25 years of the Chaplaincy of Finger Lakes. The four-time winner of the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Jockey will participate in activities such as meeting with fans and signing autographs. Day is the all-time leading rider at Keeneland and Churchill Downs in Kentucky and has ridden winners of American Triple Crown races a total of nine times during his career. He previously made an appearance at Finger Lakes on September 12, 2004 to support the Race Track Chaplaincy of America (R.T.C.A.) and Finger Lakes. He rode in two races that day including a victory in the sixth race aboard Shesasoprano. The mission of the R.T.C.A. is to minister to individuals working in the stable areas of thoroughbred and harness racetracks throughout the country.

Longshot of the Week: Thunder Warrior drew away from his rivals to win Tuesday’s seventh race at odds of 20-1 for trainer David Markgraf. He was guided to the one length victory by jockey Omar Camejo. The 3-year-gelding hit the board for the first time since breaking his maiden in his career debut on October 11, 2008.

Jockey News: After guiding Magic Card Trick to victory in Sunday’s second race, apprentice jockey Tadious Simpson will no longer receive a ten pound allowance. Simpson earned his fifth career win and will now ride with a seven pound advantage.
