Marlene Gerko Wins August 15, 2009 Finger Lakes $2,500 Handicapping Challenge!

Congratulations to Marlene Gerko, the unofficial winner of the August 15, 2009 Finger Lakes $2,500 Handicapping Challenge!  Longshots ruled the day making for an extremely challenging competition.  Yet, Marlene still managed to hit the board in eight of nine races and selected the winner in four consecutive races to soar well above the competition with a top score of 35 points and the $1,000 top prize!  A three-way tie for second place (31 points) was settled by a comparison of mutuel win totals.  In the tiebreaker, the $600 second place prize goes to Joseph Sciolino (Mutuel Win: $55.90) edging out John Scharr (Mutuel Win: $54.50).  John Scharr earns $400 for his third place finish.   A minimum score of 26 was needed to qualify for the October finals. Our next contest will take place on September 19th as we play the third leg of the $2,500 Handicapping Challenge.  Entry forms are free and will be made available at The Player Extras Station in the Upper Grandstand on the day of the contest.  Once again congratulations to all our winners!  397 Contestants participated.
