Trainer Luis Gutierrez had a training double on Tuesday improving his win total to twelve in the last 30 calendar days. The horses he has saddled during the month span have hit the board 62 percent of the time. Gutierrez has enjoyed the recent success with the help of assistant trainer and former jockey Carlos Dominguez. Dominguez won 1,567 races during his riding career and has been a valuable addition to the Gutierrez stable.
Mike Allen is a new face in the Finger Lakes jockey colony who has already made his presence felt. Allen has visited the Winner’s Circle twice while aboard his first twelve mounts at the Western New York track. He is from Florida and had been riding at Presque Isle Downs before the conclusion of its meet on September 26. Allen has been riding for 25 years and has earned a total of 1,725 career victories.
Longshot of the Week: Itscooltobesmall closed ground in the stretch to win Friday’s ninth race by a head under jockey Elaine Castillo. The Kenneth Smith-trainee was defeated by an average of 14 lengths in her previous five starts before the upset win at odds of 39-1.
