A look back and ahead…

Jockey John Davila, Jr. moved closer to his tenth Finger Lakes jockey title after guiding a total of eight horses to victory this week for trainer Chris Englehart. He opened up an eight win lead over John Grabowski who had the advantage by one victory before the running of the live card for Tuesday, October 27. The successful week for Davila was highlighted by a four bagger on Friday.

Samuel Keyrouze notched the first stakes victory of his training career on Saturday. Peppi Knows took the $50,000 Finger Lakes Juvenile by a head after being saddled by Keyrouze.

Longshot(s) of the Week: Galaxy Love shook loose from her rivals to win Thursday’s fifth race by four and one-quarter lengths. Jockey Rafael Rohena, Jr. guided the 24-1 longshot to the upset victory for trainer Jairo Espinosa. Espinosa and Rohena teamed up to also win the the third race on Tuesday with Mislead by Deb at odds of 13-1.

Jockey / Trainer News: Jockey Dennis Carr had a triple on Monday to position himself to finish in the top five for the second consecutive year. The 23-year veteran had been riding in California before arriving at Finger Lakes at the beginning of the 2008 season.
