The racing week was highlighted by notable performances by 2-year-old fillies. Miss Step was a surprise winner of Friday’s route race for 2-year-old maidens. The chestnut filly defeated a field of male opponents in the sixth race under jockey Rudy Ignacio. The Kathleen Mastin-trainee rallied past stablemate N B Ravens in the late stages of the one mile and seventy yard event to score the neck victory. Both five and one-half furlong races for 2-year-old fillies on Monday were won in gate-to-wire-fashion. Milc Kids broke awkwardly but opened up a big lead on her rivals and took the third race by 12 lengths for trainer Jeremiah Englehart. Jockey Paul Nicol, Jr. guided the Kentucky-bred to the convincing victory. Rosalie’s Dance recorded a one and three-quarter length victory in the sixth race for trainer Karl Grusmark. The New York-bred broke sharply and was aggressively guided to a one and three-quarter length victory by jockey Omar Camejo.

Longshot of the Week: Igonewild rallied down the middle of the track and got up to win Thursday’s ninth race by one length. The 34-1 outsider benefited from a fast early pace to notch her second win in her last four starts at double digit odds. The 3-year-old colt trained by Bruce Anderson was directed to the upset win by jockey Joel Sone. Sone was her pilot on October 9 when she was a surprise winner at 22-1.
