Amber Cobb had a successful Finger Lakes debut earning her first career victory on Monday. The ten-pound apprentice guided Bad Boy Luke to a one-half length win in the fifth race. Cobb began her riding career in an amateur race at Philadelphia Park in October. The 22-year-old from Somerdale, New Jersey also rode at Laurel Park and Aqueduct before joining the jockey colony at "The Thumb".
Patron Saint recorded the quickest four and one-half furlong time of opening week. The Jason Giliforte-trainee won Monday’s sixth race in a final time of :52.10. The 4-year-old gelding was directed to the three and one-quarter length victory by jockey John Grabowski.
Longshot of the Week: White Sox Scandal was one of three horses saddled by trainer Debra Breed to visit the winners circle on Monday. The 34-1 longshot scored a two and one-quarter length upset in the seventh race while making his career debut. Jockey Elaine Castillo guided the 3-year-old gelding to the triumph. Castillo also registered a hat trick on Monday.
