A look back and ahead…

Trainer Jonathan Buckley and jockey Gabriel Suarez teamed up to win three races on Monday’s card. No More Lilly’s took the fourth race and Bad Decision scored a 28-1 upset in the seventh. Mr. Windjammer completed the the duo’s hat trick when he rallied to score a neck victory in the $50,000 George Barker Handicap. The $241,612 earner owned by Stonegate Racing Stables won the Memorial Day stake for the second consecutive year. After the successful holiday, Buckley improved to be eleventh in the Finger Lakes trainer standings with seven victories. Suarez finished the racing week tied for ninth in the jockey rankings with nine wins.

Longshot of the Week: Jockey Carlos Camilo guided 35-1 outsider La Gioia Ditutti to an upset victory in Friday’s second race for trainer Ralph D’Alessandro. Camillo has directed four of his 14 mounts to win this season and has a positive return on investment of $240.00 based on $2.00 wagers. He was aboard the biggest upset winner of the meet on May 14. Forgotten Cat scored a surprise victory in the fourth race that day at odds of 78-1.
