A look back and ahead…

Trainer Megan Lucas saddled her first career winner on Friday. Large Popcorn went gate-to-wire in the second race for his new owner and conditioner. Amy Feathers-Murray was his previous trainer before she passed away on March 15, 2010. Large Popcorn, the favorite horse of Feathers-Murray, was originally purchased for $1,000 in 2006 as a gift from her husband. He was recently attained by Lucas after his first start of the 2010 meet on May 27. Lucas was originally a part owner and assisted in the care of the popular gelding after he bit and injured Feathers-Murray’s ear in 2008.
