A look back and ahead…
Lisa’s Booby Trap won the $70,000 Loudonville Stakes by six lengths Friday afternoon at Saratoga Race Course. The Tim Snyder-trainee got away a step slowly but was able to rally four wide to pass tiring horses who endured quick early fractions of 21.53 and 44.54. She completed the six furlongs sprint for 3-year-old fillies in a time of 1:09.64 under Hall-of-Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux. The undefeated Florida-bred has four career victories and has amassed a total of $75,660 in purse earnings. She is expected to make her next start in the Grade 3 Victory Ride Stakes at Saratoga on August 28.
Jockey Aadil Khan is no longer an apprentice after taking Friday’s eighth race aboard Fivefifteen. The victory was part of a consecutive mount win streak by the 26-year-old from Trinidad. Khan won five straight races in which he participated, including three after losing the weight advantage. Through Monday, he is sixth in the 2010 Finger Lakes jockey standings with 28 triumphs.
Longshot of the Week: Too Tough Pete was an upset winner of the $50,000 Genesee Valley Breeders’ Handicap at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack on Saturday. The 20-1 longshot scored a three and three-quarter length victory in the stake for New York-bred 3-year-olds and up. The $196,841 earner won the annual event in his first career attempt at a race over a mile. The John Salvato-trainee completed the one mile and one-sixteenth route in a time of 1:46.08 under jockey Paul Nicol, Jr.

Jockey News: The 2010 jockey footrace was won by Gabriel Suarez on Saturday. The 70-yard dash from the starting gate was held to raise money for the Don MacBeth Memorial Jockey Fund. A donation will be made by Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack to the charitable organization in recognition of the riders that participated in the event.
