FARMINGTON, N.Y. – A field of nine competitors are entered to run in the 25th renewal of the $75,000 New York Oaks on Saturday at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack. Freud’s Notebook is the morning line favorite for the one mile and one-sixteenth route restricted for 3-year-old New York-bred fillies.

The 5-2 program choice won the $70,000 Lake Luzerne Stake in her most recent start on August 13 at Saratoga. She scored the victory by three-quarters of a length in a seven furlong time of 1:25.16.

Jockey Michael Luzzi is listed to ride the $147,848 earner for trainer Bruce Brown. Luzzi has visited the winner’s circle with three of his four mounts at Finger Lakes this season. His most notable triumph was with Ibboyee in the $161,600 New York Derby on July 17.

Rogue’s Jewel is also entered in the annual event after finishing second in the Lake Luzerne Stakes at odds of 18-1. The Carlos Martin-trainee offered a late challenge for Freud’s Notebook in the stake with a vigorous rally from last. This weekend, she will be competing in a race longer than a mile for the first time in her career. Jockey Dennis Carr will be in the irons of the 7-2 second program choice.

The $75,000 New York Oaks is scheduled as the eighth of Saturday’s nine race card. WYSL 1040 AM/92.1 FM will carry a live broadcast that includes pre and post race analysis of the feature event. Racing gates open at an earlier time of 11:00 a.m. and first race post time is set at 1:10 p.m.
