A look back and ahead…

The Sonnenberg Handicap is the feature race of the first Thursday live card of the Finger Lakes 2007 meet. Fly to Me, the winner on the $50,000 Jack Betta Be Rite Handicap on August 25, is the 9-5 morning line favorite for the one mile and seventy yard route for fillies and mares. The Michael Lecesse-trainee will compete in a field of eight, which includes a three-time stakes winner. Carlow, a $303,869 earner trained by Karl Grusmark, is also entered in the sixth race after winning the Crescent Handicap on August 25. Finger Lakes will have live racing on Thursdays instead of Sundays for the remainder of the season which concludes on Saturday, December 1.

Longshot of the Week: Despite making his first start in almost four months, Scourge defeated an allowance field in the eighth race on Friday. The 3-year-old gelding was ridden to the three and one-quarter length victory by Gabriel Suarez. Trainer John Progno notched his second win of the day with the 33-1 outsider.
